With the opening of the European rail passenger market via EU legislation, some stakeholders in the sector cheer while others are more sceptical. Several examples in high-speed rail show competition lowers ticket prices and increases ridership, but does this mean this also goes for other rail services and in every country? There was a debate on this topic featuring:
