ALLRAIL’s President Elmer van Buuren and Secretary General Nick Brooks took part in an informal networking lunch hosted by the Representation of the European Region Tyrol – South Tyrol – Trentino at its office in Brussels.
The subject of the event to discuss improving cross-border Alpine mobility issues by road and rail.
It was particularly fitting that this event took part on the same day as the inaugural service between Belgium and Italy by European Sleeper – the first direct passenger rail service between the two countries for many years.
Indeed, this new direct rail connection will serve the South Tyrol in Italy, linking the European Region with Brussels, home to many of the EU institutions – showing that it is independent passenger rail operators who are making Europe smaller!
